Jane F. LawJane F. Law (nee Schmitz), 87, of Elyria Township, died December 8, 2018 at The Woods on French Creek in Avon. She was born August 20, 1931 in Avon and attended schools in Avon and LaGrange. Jane was a life member of Erie Shores Humane Society where she was a volunteer, secretary, served on The Board of Trustees and was the Editor of the Monthly Newsletter. She contributed a monthly article to the Lorain County Senior Years Newspaper about pets, entitled Petpourri. She was active in the Commodore Perry Antique Car Club AACA and held the offices of secretary and sunshine chairman.Jane was a former member of Elyria Chapter # 165 O.E.S. and Ohio Tops 105 holding every office since 1965. She collected cat items, snowmen and old silverware. She also enjoyed reading, writing her penpals, spending time with her cats and dog, Tristan.Jane is survived by daughters, Rebecca (Rodney) Dummitt of Elyria, Susan (Dennis) Yost of Highland Village, Texas and Bonnie (Mary) Law of Avon Lake; son, Scott (Denise) of Lorain; grandchildren, Eric and Aaron Dummitt, Devon Yost, Brooke Omert, Jason and Mitchell Law and Nikki Deniff; sixteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and her long time care giver, Annie Dowling who was like a daughter to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Law in 2007; parents, Jerome and Marie Schmitz; brother, Joseph Schmitz and a half sister, Susan Miller.A private graveside service will be at Columbia Township Cemetery. A special thanks by the family is extended to the staff of The Woods on French Creek and Hospice of the Western Reserve. Memorial contributions may be made to Erie Shores Humane Society, PO Box 1041 Elyria, Ohio 44036. Arrangements were in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
