Jane Kehler's Obituary
Jane Kehler Obituary
Mary Jane Kehler, 73, of North Ridgeville and formerly of Lorain, passed away at home Monday morning January 4, 2021. She was born January 10, 1947 in Ashland to Donald and Opal (nee Crone) Zercher. Jane was a fun loving and wonderful wife, mother, and friend. It was very comforting to know that the line to offer help to the family was long and unwavering. She loved to travel and did so with family and friends. Jane was a member of the Elyria Elks Lodge #465 for over 15 years. During their marriage of over 46 years Jane and Red traveled over most of the region for softball, bowling, and Elks visitations. They got to meet many wonderful people they still call friends. Jane faithfully attended weekends during Red’s progression through District and State chairs and rarely got lost. They made visits to numerous national conventions for the Elks. One mode of travel that Jane enjoyed was taking cruise ships. There were many trips to the Caribbean, a couple to Alaska, the Mediterranean, two to Hawaii, Canada and New England, the Mexican Riviera, and they made it to Sydney with a couple of stops in the South Pacific. Thanks to Dennis and Sheryl Donich for the company on many of these adventures. Jane and Red also crossed the pond several times. Jane traveled to France with her daughter Jolynn and sister in law Vicky. She also saw Germany and surrounding areas with a friend while visiting Midge’s kids in the service. Jane and Red had a wonderful motor coach tour with friends in Italy. After the Mediterranean cruise, they thought they were done with long plane trips until Dennis found a great roundtrip fare to Amsterdam in October of 2019. They saw many major cities in the interior of Europe and had another great time. Jane also enjoyed sports, concerts, Playhouse Square, and gambling. Jane and Red were season ticket holders for the Indians for over 20 years beginning at Municipal Stadium. They saw many exciting regular season and playoff games. Jane also enjoyed watching the Browns, Buckeyes, and Cavaliers. She enjoyed numerous rock concerts from Blossom to Windsor to Vegas. Jane and Red were season ticket holders for Playhouse Square for many years. One activity Jane really worked at was her temporary investment strategies that she employed at Casinos all over the country and beyond. Many people remember the Fourth of July parties on Lake Erie over the 20 years they lived on Lorain’s north coast. They even caught the Aurora Borealis one evening on a late stroll. Survivors include her husband Harold “Red” Kehler, daughter Jolynn Denny, son in law Andrew Denny, grandchildren Cole and Mackenzie Vrooman, and sister in law Vicky Kehler. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Bump Zercher. Due to COVID, there will be no visitation at this time, however, a memorial is planned and will be announced when it is safe to come out and celebrate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Elks Endowment, C/O Jack Minarchick, Treasurer, 7473 Ryan Rd., Medina, OH, 44256. A special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve for the expert care Jane received.
