Janis Adkins Obituary
Janis E. Adkins (nee Kochis), 77, of Vermilion, died Friday June 13, 2025 in her home. She was born March 5, 1948 in Elyria and was a 1966 graduate of Elyria High School. She was a retired special education aide from Elyria City Schools and for over 20 years provided day care in her home. Janis was a member of Harbourtown Community Church where she shared her love for the lord with her family. She often spent her time embracing nature; planting hundreds of flowers every year, watching birds, and feeding the local wildlife. She was a creative soul and made beautiful jewelry through her passion for arts and crafts. In her life Janis touched the hearts of many and was a firm foundation for the Adkins family.
Janis is survived by her husband of 58 years, Albert; daughter, Kelly (Keith) Edwards of Etters, PA; son, Jeremy (Becca) Adkins of South Amherst; grandchildren, Ashleigh and Brianna Little, Chance Horton and Michael (Morgan), Collin and Tyler Adkins; great-granddaughters, A’miyah Spencer, A’layna Little and Emery (on the way); brothers, Keith (Marcia) and Denny Kochis; sister, Judi (John) Smith; brothers-in-law, Chilton (Linda) and Jimmy (Missy) Adkins; sisters-in-law, Patsy Workman and Judy (Walt) Shafer and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Evelyn Kochis, brother-in-law, Donny Adkins, and great-granddaughter Everleigh.
Friends will be received Friday, June 20, 2025 from 1:00 pm until the time of a 3:00 pm service at Harbourtown Community Church, 873 State Street, Vermilion.
