Jeannine Kirk Obituary
Jeannine (nee Dickendesher) Kirk, 88, of Elyria, died September 16, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. She was born September 17, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, was a 1952 graduate of West High School in Columbus and attended Ohio State University. From 1955-1960, she had been employed as a secretary for the Office of the University President at Ohio State University and from 1978-1986 she was an assistant teacher at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Day School, Canton. Jeannine was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Elyria and a board member of the Samaritan Center, Elyria. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader and co-leader for various troops in Columbus, North Canton and Elyria. For 38 years, she was a Day Camp volunteer in Elyria and North Canton, including 20 years as Day Camp Director. She served as director of a Wider-Opportunity Event hosted by Erie Shores GS Council which included participants from across the country, 10 years as Service Unit Director for Eastern Heights, Elyria and served several years as a trainer for troop leaders. In 1997, she was nominated for a YWCA Woman of Achievement Award for her service to Erie Shores Girl Scout Council. Other hobbies included genealogy and crafts. Jeannine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Karl L; children, Laura (Ron) Lieser, Dale (Annette) Kirk, Karen (Scott) Francy and Amy (Enrique) Kirk; grandchildren, Caroline Lieser, Abby (Jacob) Francy Perino, Adam Lieser, Jacob Francy, Daniel Francy, Sean Kirk, Andres Diaz-Kirk and Ricardo Diaz-Kirk. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Dickendesher. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 300 Third Street, Elyria. Reverend June Hardy Dorsey, Rector will officiate. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Food Pantry, 300 Third Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
