Jeffie E. White, Jr., 84, a longtime Oberlin resident, died October 23, 2011 at EMH Healthcare. He was born April 13, 1927 in Ansley, Alabama and attended Elyria High School, where he lettered in football and track.He left high school early to serve with the United States Air Force during WWII and received an honorable discharge and the WWII Victory Medal.He was employed as a welder at Ford Motor Company in Brookpark for 49 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of Jones Chapel A.M.E., the Progressive Club of the church, formerly sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. He was a former member and past master of Sidonia Lodge #93 F. & A.M. Jeffie leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Jimmie Sue White (nee Harris); daughters Denise White Fields of Brunswick, GA, Rosiland White Lane of Atlanta, GA, Therese White Bowen of Jonesboro, GA and Regina White (Sam) Muldrew of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Adia S. Fields of Atlanta, GA, Carl U. Bowen of New York City, Randolph J. B. Fields of Brunswick, GA, Rudolph T. Bowen of Destin, FL, Jordon C. Bowen of Jonesboro, GA and Lukas L. Hill of Atlanta, GA and a host of family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents Jeffie and Threasie White (nee Cannon); granddaughter Shaniqua White and a sister Lillie Cruce Smith (nee White). The family will receive friends Friday, November 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jones Chapel A.M.E., 343 17th Street, Elyria, where Willard B. Hones American Legion Post 656 Oberlin will serve as honor guard. Friends will also be received Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 11 a.m. until the time of a 12:00 p.m. service at the church. Reverend Dr. Cheviene Jones and Rev. Dr. David Hopewell, Sr. will officiate.Burial will be in New Russia Township Cemetery with Elyria V.F.W.
