Jennifer Stephens Obituary
Jennifer Vanessa Stephens, age 49, died August 8, 2021 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. A beloved daughter, sister, and auntie has gone to heaven. She was born September 17, 1971 in Canton, Ohio and was a 1989 graduate of Jackson High School in Massillon, OH. Jenny went on to earn her degree in Physical Therapy from Ohio University in 1996. She profoundly loved her work as a Physical Therapist and was deeply committed to the health of her patients. The last 20 years of her career were spent at Southwest General as an Outpatient Therapist where she touched the lives of so many. Family and friends knew her as a loving, generous, enigmatic, witty and often hilarious boss of the family. She loved to cook and was an incredible hostess; organizing all family events and photographing and archiving the family stories every step of the way. Family and friends were everything to Jenny, she was incredibly close with all of her nieces and nephews and they adored her. Her group of friends at Ohio University formed a deep bond and are forever known as the gOUlden girls. The group's annual gatherings filled with revelry and camaraderie were a highlight on her social calendar. In her spare time she was an avid reader, an incredible chef and a huge Cleveland Sports Fan. She loved music and singing, and we certainly will never forget her exuberant off key one-woman car shows, singing everything from Streisand to Bon Jovi, equally entertaining and annoying her passengers along the way. Jenny’s final thoughts were for her family and friends and that her Cleveland Browns would finally win a superbowl. Her beloved Browns, Cavs and Indians now have a new “Guardian” Angel on their side, as do we all. She will be missed by so many and treasured forever. Jenny is survived by her parents Fred and Anne Stephens of Elyria; her sisters Heather (Scott) Demos of Huron, Jacquie Stephens of Grafton, & Beth (Tom) Anderson of Reynoldsburg; and nieces and nephews, Stephen, Danny, Olivia, Allison, and Charlotte who were the light of her life. Friends and family will be received Friday August 13, 2021 from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A memorial service will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Charles T. Diedrick officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
