Jerry D. Snyder Jr., 56, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021. He was born April 11, 1965 in Elyria to parents Jerry Snyder Sr. and Darlene Handyside and was a 1983 graduate of Elyria High School. Jerry worked as a correctional officer at Grafton Correctional Institute for 18 years, where he formed countless close friendships with his colleagues and earned the utmost respect from those under his charge. Betwixt spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed several activities such as bowling, golfing, and reading. Jerry loved nothing more than being a grandfather. He also had an unparalleled adoration for the Cleveland Browns. In addition to his parents, Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry Snyder III; daughter, Amanda Rutz; brother, Ronald Snyder; sisters, Georgia Snyder and Pamela Short; and a grandson, Noah Rutz. He also has an extensive step family, whom he loved dearly. At the request of the family, all services will be clandestine.
