Jerry W. Carmichael, 66, of Elyria, died March 18, 2016 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.He was born December 2, 1949 in East Rainelle, WV and was a 1968 graduate of Elyria High School. From 1969 to 1971, he served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne. Beginning in 1972, Jerry was employed for forty years as a machinist at Duffin Manufacturing (Chicago Faucets & Geberit), retiring in 2012. He was a life member of Elyria AMVETS Post 32 and the AMVETS Color Guard. He was also a member of Elyria Eagles #431 and enjoyed showing, racing, repairing and rebuilding cars, camping, horseshoes, golfing and was a history enthusiast. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary; parents Harold and Betty Carmichael of Elyria; sons Chris (Missy) Carmichael of Sheffield Lake, Jamie Carmichael of North Ridgeville, daughter Nicole (Tyler) Carmichael of Elyria and a granddaughter, Katie.Friends and family are invited to share memories of Jerry at a gathering Sunday, September 18 2016 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Shawnee Lake Park, 6464 Congress Rd., Spencer, OH.
