Joan M. BonkoJoan M. Bonko (nee: Bogard), 80, of Elyria, died, September 27, 2018 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born May 1, 1938 in Akron and was a 1956 graduate of Elyria High School. She received a degree as a Registered Nurse from Lorain County Community College and was employed as an RN for thirty years. Joan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Elyria. She enjoyed spending time at their lake house in Vermilion, but her fondest memories were of those with her children and grandchildren.Joan is survived by her husband of fifty eight years, John D. Bonko; son, John (Cathy) Bonko; daughters, Jean Bonko and Julie (Jim) Wukie all of Elyria; grandchildren, Katelyn (Shawn) Bally, John Bonko and Bradley, Ryan and Adam Wukie; great granddaughter, Suzie Bally; sister, Barbara (Edward) Abahazi of Elyria and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Fuller and Marion Bogard and a daughter-in-law, Sue Bonko.
