Joann A. Horvath (nee Youngblood), 81, of Carlisle Township, died September 30, 2015 at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland.She was born March 22, 1934 in Elyria and was a 1951 graduate of Avon High School.Joann was formerly employed by Midview Schools as a teachers aide at East Carlisle Elementary School and retired after 28 years of service. For many years, she was also a volunteer with the Midview Schools Sports teams. She was a member of Community of Faith United Church of Christ, Elyria and a former member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, where she was an active participant with the programs of the church. She enjoyed following the many activities of her grandchildren, sewing, crafts and traveling.Joann is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alex V. Horvath, Jr.; daughters Diane Horvath of Lakewood, Brenda (Steven) Silver of Westlake and Patricia (Shane) Wassink of Clymer, NY and grandchildren Ryan, Mark and Alyssa Silver and Alexis, Hunter and Roman Wassink.She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Catherine Youngblood.Friends will be received Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Community of Faith United Church of Christ, 9715 East River Rd., Elyria with Reverend C. Thomas French officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O.
