Joanne Ames Obituary
Joanne Ames (nee Adams), 90, of Vermilion, and formerly of Avon Lake passed away peacefully February 9, 2019 with family by her side. She was born July 10, 1928 in Elyria and lived in Avon Lake from 1956-2013 before moving to Vermilion to live with her youngest daughter, Chrissy (Wade) Nelson. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, bridge, sewing, golfing and ballroom dancing. She was a longtime member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ and a member of Avon Lake Garden Club.Joanne is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Tom) Stasek, Linda (Andy) Maganai, and Chris (Wade) Nelson; 4 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her former husband Donard Ames Jr.; parents, Leonard and Marion Adams (nee Thorpe); and brothers, Robert and William Adams.A memorial service will be Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2:00pm at Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd, Avon Lake, Ohio. Pastor Kelly B. Brill will officiate. Scattering will take place in the Memorial Garden of the church.Arrangements were in the care of Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria, Ohio.
