Jody “Joe” J. Jordan, 50, of Camp Springs, MD, died unexpectedly July 5, 2022. He was born April 11, 1972 in Elyria, Ohio to Sabrina Jones and Joseph Carter, Sr. He was a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School in Excelsior Springs, Missouri before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he worked as an Information Management Specialist. He ended his esteemed career at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. where he was honorably discharged. He was employed by Mitre Corporation of McLean, Virginia. Joe enjoyed cooking, traveling, card playing, movies, music, and spending quality time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his intelligence, tech savvy, humor, and love for his mother, daughter, and family. Joe is survived by his daughter, Brionna Jordan of San Antonio, TX; mother, Sabrina Jones of Elyria; sister, Ashia Jones of Elyria; brothers, Terence Jordan of Kansas City, MO and Joseph Carter, Jr., Cornelius Carter and Reginald Carter, all of Lorain; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Carter, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Ossie Davis and Gene Carter; maternal grandparents, Armous Jordan and Doris Jordan; sister, Dorthea Lee; niece, Dashiza Jordan; and nephew, Tavon Jordan. Friends will be received Friday, July 15, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A 1:00 pm graveside service will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Reverend David T. Hill, pastor of First Church in Oberlin, United Church of Christ will officiate. Elyria VFW #1079 will present military honors.
