Joe Malick, Sr.Joe Malick Sr., 100, of Elyria, passed away May 25, 2018 at The Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Joe was born March 29, 1918 in Elyria to the late George and Mary Malick (nee: Yulzek). He had recently celebrated his 100th birthday with a party that included his family, friends and fellow veterans.Joe was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the Army and later retiring after thirty seven years with Ridge Tool Company in Elyria. An avid gardener, he took pride in the beautiful flowers and garden vegetables he shared with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending summers fishing for walleye on Lake Erie.He is survived by his children, son, Joe Malick, Jr. (Cathy) of Elyria; daughter, JoAnn Thurston of Lorain; grandchildren, Tracy Lopez (Michael) of Carlisle Township, Michael Fox (Katherine) of The Woodlands, Texas; great grandchildren, Todd Malick, Jeremy Fox and Aaron Fox, as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years in 2005, Jean Wilma Malick (nee: Filler); brothers, Stanley Malick and Edward Malick; sisters, Anne Prentice, Julie Browand and Rose Malick.Friends will be received Monday May 28, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Tuesday May 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Reverend Fr. Jerome M. Lajack officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
