John B. GilesJohn B. Giles, 83, a resident of O’Neill Healthcare, North Ridgeville and a longtime resident of Lorain died January 22, 2018. He was born August 1, 1934 in York, Alabama to Ora D. and Berry Giles. John was a US Army veteran and was formerly employed as a crane operator and union steward at American Brakeshoe in Elyria. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, dominos and watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers on TV. John is survived by a daughter, Roseanne Austin of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Andrew Giles of Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Betty Giles of Atlanta, Georgia, Ann Rodgers of York, Alabama, Dorothy Wilson of Detroit, Michigan and Vanessa Watson of York, Alabama; several grandchildren; brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews and a dear longtime friend, Julius Ward.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jammie Sue Giles Hodge; son, John B. Giles, Jr.; brother, Dave S. Giles and sisters, Beatrice Giles and Rosie Cook.Friends will be received Monday January 29, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of an 11:00 AM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Dr. Carl P. Small, Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Elyria will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
