John Stalla Obituary
John E. Stalla, 72, of Elyria, died February 8, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born September 5, 1944 in Elyria and attended Elyria High School.During the Vietnam War, John served with the United States Army as an engineer, stationed in Germany. He was a self employed carpet installer and had also worked as a car transporter for Montrose KIA in Sheffield Village.John enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and played, coached and umpired for Little League West. Other interests included playing cards, billiards and BINGO. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary D. Stalla (nee Wilkerson); sister, Nancy L. (Robert) Dye of Elyria; nieces Susan M. Drew and Sheryl A. (David) Marks; nephew, Jeff R. (Gene) Dye and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie Stalla in 1977 and parents Arthur and Frances Stalla. Friends will be received Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Monday, February 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Brookdale Cemetery, where Elyria V.F. W. #1079 will present military honors.
