John J. DeMarco, 93 of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord December 28, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.He was born September 15, 1918 in Cleveland and was an Elyria resident most of his life.John was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in Germany and France and received the Purple Heart.In 1946, He and his step brother Tony Fogylano formed T & J Movers. John joined Western & Southern Life Insurance Company in 1954, where he was a salesman for many years. He was then employed in the maintenance department at Elyria Memorial Hospital, retiring at the age of 71 in 1989.John enjoyed golf, roller skating, bowling, furniture restoring and playing his harmonica and was a former member of First Assembly of God in Elyria.Survivors include his son Dennis J. DeMarco (Kim) ; daughters Kay E. Williams (Frank), Carol A. Lattimer (Ron), Susan L. Hugh (Greg) and Shirley Michele Littleton (Scott); 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister Angela Knight (Dick) and a brother Anthony DeMarco (Ida).He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Eileen G. DeMarco (nee Jaycox) in 2007; stepbrother Anthony Fogylano; stepsisters Connie Wellborn and Mary Gannon and sisters Anna Larizza and Rose Pillari.Services for the immediate family will be at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, where Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will conduct military honors.
