Johnny Leon Cash, 57, of Elyria, formerly of Oberlin, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 23, 2017 at The Cleveland Clinic after a lengthy illness. He was born October 31, 1959 in Ardmore, OK and was a 1977 graduate of Oberlin High School. Johnny worked for Oberlin College for over 30 years as an HVAC technician and was a conscientious, hard working, loyal employee who enjoyed his work and those he worked with. He devoted much of his time and attention to the ministry of AA, where he was a member and sponsor, and would often leave his home at anytime to counsel and encourage someone struggling with an addiction.His hobbies included watching basketball, football and baseball and playing golf. Johnny leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 32 years, Donna E. (nee Monger); daughter, Marcenia Martika Coulter (nee Cash); son Dwight A. Witt; 3 grandchildren; brothers Byrd W. (Johanna) Cash, Jr. and Noel G. (Pam) Cash and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Byrd W. and Lula Mae Cash, Sr.; sisters Willie Mirl Johnson and Mabel Fitzpatrick and brothers, Benny, Gene Sr. and J.C. Cash. Friends will be received Monday, May 1, 2017 from 11 to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria.A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin. Pastor Steven C. Valles will officiate.
