Joseph Buga, Jr Obituary
Joseph J. Buga, Jr., 84, of Oberlin, died July 9, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born May 17, 1936 in Elyria and was a 1954 graduate of Elyria High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force serving from 1954-1957 stationed in Korea. Joe was formerly employed at Fruehauf Trailer Corporation and US Steel and then as a corrections officer for the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department from where he retired. After retiring, he worked part time at Farm and Home Hardware in Wellington. He was a member of the Elyria Moose Club 778 where he served various positions including governor. Joe was also a 50 year member of Elyria Eagles 431 and was currently president of Elyria 778 Charities Inc. Joseph is survived by children, Tracy (Pat) Maloney of Elyria, Charles (Kelley) Buga of Oberlin, and Sean (Tina) Buga of Wellington; step children, Edward Rangus and Kathy (Mike) Kerecz both of Avon, Charles Bartlett of Houston, TX and Terri (Dale) Griffore of North Ridgeville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother James Buga of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine in 2004; granddaughter, Angie Burrer; parents, Evelyn and Joseph Buga, Sr.; brothers, Rocky and Lamar Buga and a sister Faith Ann Cummings. Memorial contributions may be made to Elyria 778 Charities, Inc., 134 Kenwood Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
