Joy Hadaway Walworth, 88, of Oberlin, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Kendal at Oberlin. She was born February 5, 1933 to Donald Wilson Hadaway and Noye Easton Demuth Hadaway. She was raised in North Ridgeville, Ohio and attended The College of Wooster and received a BA in English literature in 1955. While a student at Wooster, she worked part-time in the college library, where she met Frank Walworth. They married in 1956, had two children, John and Julia, and lived in Cleveland Heights, Ohio for 48 years. Joy worked for more than 25 years as a prepublication editor in several fields. Her clients included the Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Yearbook Medical Publishers, University Hospitals of Cleveland, The Temple-Tifereth Israel, and several university presses. Joy enjoyed reading, gardening, and wildlife—interests she maintained after she and Frank moved to Oberlin in 2006.
Joy is survived by her husband Frank; son John (wife, Judy Khoury Walworth); daughter Julia (husband, David d’Avray); a sister Gail Bartter; and a brother Mark Hadaway.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
