Julia Jean Wilcox, 82, of Elyria, died February 17, 2016 under the loving care of the staff at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon.She was born August 11, 1933 in Congo, Perry County, Ohio and was a 1951 graduate of Elyria High School. Beginning in 1984, she was employed for 14 years by the Lorain County Department of Human Services, retiring in 1998. For over 65 years, she was an active member of Lake Avenue United Church of Christ. Jean was a physical fitness advocate and a ten year volunteer at Lorain County Community College. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her decorated cakes.Jean is survived by sons James H. (Phyllis) Wilcox of Painesville, Mark A. (Tanas) Wilcox of Vermilion and Paul M. ((Holly) Wilcox of Worthington Hills, OH; daughter Kathryn J. Kate (Allison Dowd) Wilcox of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Benjamin, Meredith, Lucien, Sarah, Ryan, Courtney and Grace; great grandchildren Preston, Audrey, Nolan, Carter, Madeline, Macy, Mikey and Flynn; sisters Helen (Tom) McClements and Rita (Don) Gregory, both of Elyria.She was preceded in death by husband of 19 years, Lucien Harlan Wilcox in 1974; grandson Matthew James Wilcox in 2000; parents Mike & Julia Kader; brothers John, Mike, Elmer, and Frank Kader and sisters Mary Enczi and Esther Resko.Friends will be received Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.A memorial service will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Community of Faith United Church of Christ, 9715 East River St., Elyria with Reverend James Cunningham officiating.
