Karen B. GilkersonKaren B. Gilkerson, 57, of Avon, died April 24, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic, Avon Hospital. She was born November 19, 1960 in Lorain and was a 1979 graduate of Avon High School. Karen was formerly employed by Elyria Savings and Trust Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Hovey Kaiser Insurance. She was a fan of Indy Car Racing and had several times attended The Indianapolis Five Hundred. She enjoyed spending time in the Lake Erie Islands.Karen is survived by her son, Christopher Smith; mother, Beryl Gilkerson of Avon; brother, Joey (Nancy) Gilkerson of Amherst, several nieces and nephews and her former husband, Mark Smith.She was preceded in death by her father, Fred “Ted” Gilkerson in 2009 and a brother, Gary Gilkerson in 2018.A memorial service will be Saturday May 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 46485 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst, Ohio. Pastor Chris Reutepohler will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
