Kenneth Coon, Sr. Obituary
Kenneth J. Coon, Sr., 59, of Elyria, died February 19, 2017 after a brief illness at Life Care Center of Medina, surrounded by family. He was born July 24, 1957 in Elyria and was a 1978 graduate of North Ridgeville High School. He was formerly employed in construction and drove a cement truck for Medina Supply and also Cleveland Builder’s Supply. Kenny enjoyed Cleveland Browns Football and NASCAR racing. He is survived by son, Kenneth “KJ” Coon, Jr. of Lorain; daughter, Penny (Jessie) Hanzel of Avon Lake; granddaughters Sierra Coon and Lillian Hanzel; mother, Patricia A. Coon and sisters Debora A. Coon and Rose M. (John) Osborne, all of Elyria and brothers, Nelson G. (Regina) Coon, Jr. of Wellington and Edward W. (Brenda) Coon of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his father Nelson G. Coon, Sr. in 1989; a sister Diane L. Dorham in 1991 and a nephew, Chad Coon in 1992. Family will receive friends Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a 6:30 p.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Pastor Scott Matovich, of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church, N. Ridgeville will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
