Kenny Lee Dick, 77 of Lorain, died peacefully at home August 30, 2021. He was born November 24, 1943 in Cambridge, Ohio, having lived most of his life in Elyria and Lorain. For 30 years he had been employed by Stanadyne/Moen and served as Union President for UAW 101. He retired in 2004 as a corrections officer from Grafton Correctional Institute. Kenny also coached many kids through the Elyria Parks and Recreation Department. Kenny was a 1962 graduate of Elyria High School where he was an outstanding athlete, especially basketball and perfected his shot known as Dick’s Coffin Corner. Kenny was a member of the 1961 EHS basketball team that went to state finals and was enshrined in the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame. He was known for his storytelling, humor, and hat selection. He enjoyed music with Stand by Me by the Drifters, as his favorite song. He was always the best singer and dancer in the room. Other interests included golf, bowling and traveling extensively with his wife, Sandy, and friends, including cruises, racetracks and casinos. He was a member of the Elyria Elks, Eagles and Moose. Kenny is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra (nee Marshall); children Suzanne (Tony) Reaser, Stacey (Chris) Igou, Travis (Samantha) Matthews, Diane Dick James, Doug (Delora) Kozusko and Laurie Lutz; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Crittenden S (Mary Lou) Dick and Keith Joe (Diane) Dick. He was preceded in death by parents, Okey and Cora ruth (nee Stender) Dick and sisters, Janice Fern and E. Pauline. Friends will be received Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Chaplain Brian Bennetch of Elara Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Masks will be required at all events.
