Larry Carl NelsonLarry Carl Nelson, 81, of Elyria, died, September 20, 2018. He was born May 20, 1937 in Berea, Ohio and was a 1955 graduate of Elyria High School. His undergraduate work was at Wittenberg University and his graduate studies were at Tulane and Vanderbilt Universities. From 1962 until 1974 he taught economics at Muskingum University, then moved to Tennessee and taught at Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State, and Fisk Universities. He then pursued a career in real estate, serving as president of the Sumner County Realtors Association. For eleven years he owned and operated All Fired Up, a ceramics-painting studio in Hillsboro Village, before retiring, returning to Elyria, his childhood home, this year.Larry is survived by a daughter, Lise (Mark) Brown; son, Carl (Ashley) Nelson; grandsons, Christian and Michael Nelson; sisters, Jean Anderson and Gail Segraves; nieces, Laura (Blaize) Tubritt Anderson, Terri (Mike) Matos, Traci McIntosh, and Michelle (Jason) Bruehler, and his former wife, Betty Nelson.
