Laura L. Longbrake (nee Meeks), 86, of Elyria, died June 4, 2019 at Hospice of Medina County. She was born August 10, 1932 in Oberlin and attended Elyria and Oberlin High Schools. She was a resident of Elyria most of her life and was co-owner of Longbrake Refrigeration and Air Conditioning before retiring in 1994. Laura was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and square dancing. Laura is survived by her son, James (Mary) Longbrake of Elyria; grandchildren, Laurie (Tim) Perry, Robert (Nichole), Erin, Matthew, and Paige Longbrake; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; local niece and nephew, Jeff and Diane Chapman, in addition to many other nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leon O. Longbrake; daughter, Sandra J. Smith; niece, Valerie J. “Val” Chapman; and siblings, Arthur B. Hall, Emily J. Chapman, Kathryn Hadaway, Janet Schaefer, Karl Hall, Elden Meeks, Marie McIntire, and Helen Krueger.A Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Dalton D. Love officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery at a later date.
