LaVera Quinn Obituary
LaVera J. Bera Quinn (nee Miller), 75, of Elyria, passed away peacefully July 24, 2015 at the home of her daughter under the care of Stein Hospice. She was born March 22, 1940 in Shamokin, PA and lived most of her life in Elyria. She graduated from L. B. J. School of Nursing in 1968 with an L.P.N. degree and later graduated from LCCC with an RN degree. LaVera was employed as a nurse with University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center 35 years, retiring in 2010. She was an active member of Community United Methodist Church in Elyria where she volunteered as secretary for the church trustees and served on numerous committees. Hosting family gatherings and celebrations was her greatest love. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, reading and spending time at her daughters home on the lake in Marblehead, OH. LaVera is survived by a daughter Bonnie (Tom) Showalter of Marblehead; a son Todd (Brittni) Quinn of Elyria; granddaughters Nicole Quinn and Sara Showalter; sisters Sally Lauer of Selinsgrove, PA and Sharon Willoughby of Elyria and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bernard Jack Quinn in 2009.A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 am August 1, 2015 at Community United Methodist Church, 680 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, officiated by Reverend Kevin Coleman. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be at the Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH, 44870.
