Lawrence “Larry” Leland Maiden, 74 of Elyria, died February 15, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was born May 28, 1948 in Elyria and was a 1966 graduate of Elyria High School. Larry met the love of his life, Joanne (nee Ruck) on the bus in elementary school. They married in 1969 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria. Larry continued his education, training to be a tool and die maker. He went on to have a 47 year career at General Motors and hesitated to retire due to his love of being a crane operator. Larry never met a stranger. He was a kind and generous man, who many called a friend. He was never short on stories to share and the laughter that followed. In his spare time he loved joyriding in his Camaro with Joanne, working on their land, taking care of the gardens, tinkering with his equipment, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a very proud grandfather who was happiest watching his grandsons play sports. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Joanne Maiden and children, Anne (Jason) Jesse, Eric Maiden, Scott (Jennifer) Maiden, and Glen (Jackie) Maiden. His legacy will live on in the lives of his beloved grandsons Dawson, Evan, Owen and Gus. He is also survived by his sister, Bobbie Diedrick; brothers, Thomas Maiden and Sheridan Maiden; extended family and many. many dear friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Roberta (nee Freeland) Maiden; brother David O. Maiden, and sister Roxanne V. (nee Maiden) Deidrick. Friends will be received Monday, February 20, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Friends will also be received Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of an 11:00 am Celebration of Larry’s life.
