Margaret Stevens Obituary
Margaret Dean Peg Stevens (nee: Starr), 98, of Elyria went home to her Lord February 5, 2015 at Life Care Center of Elyria following a long illness. She was born June 30, 1916 in Cuyahoga Falls and moved with her family to Nova, Ohio in 1930 where she attended high school. She and her loving husband, Harlan LeRoy Red Stevens were married May 27, 1933. They moved to Elyria in 1949 where they resided for thirty years. Peg sold real estate in Lorain County for various realtors until retiring in 1978 to Barefoot Bay, Florida. She was a member of Garfield Chapter # 324 Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of First Baptist Church of Elyria and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Since her return to Elyria in 1998 she has been affiliated with Washington Avenue Christian Church. Peg was a loving mother to Patricia D. Stevens of North Ridgeville and Sandra L. (Robert) Rieth of Elyria; devoted grandmother to Dianna (Gene) Chevchek of North Royalton, Mark (Shawn) Stevens, Theresa (Doug) Hayes and Jennifer (Anthony) Sweeten, all of Elyria; nine great grandchildren; seventeen great great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Richard) Fox of Nova and a foster brother, Chet Middling of Columbus. Besides her husband of fifty five years, who died in 1988 she was preceded in death a son, Jerry L. Stevens in 1992; parents, Raymond and Ethel Starr; sisters, Ruth Austin and Dorothy Brown and a brother, Norman Starr.Family will receive friends Sunday February 15, 2015 from 1:00 PM until the time of a 2:00 PM celebration of life service at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 301 Washington Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Dr. Janet A. Long will officiate. Burial will be in Nova Cemetery, Nova, Ohio. Margarets family offers a special thank you to the staff and residents of Life Care Center of Elyria for the loving care they gave her for so many years. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association (Lou Gehrigs Disease) 1275 K Street N.W. Suite 250, Washington D.C. 20005.
