Margaret V. Childers, 96, of Elyria, died October 28, 2014 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.She was born February 27, 1918 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where she was a 1937 graduate of Martins Ferry High School.Margaret was employed for fortyfive years at Yorkville Wheeling Steel Company, moving to Elyria in 2003 to be near her family. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and was a fan of all sports.Our aunt Margaret and last member of our familys Greatest Generation is survived by nephews Gordon Robert (Jean) Childers and David (Brenda) Childers, both of Elyria and Jon Childers of Akron; nieces Mary Ann (Scott) Kardos of Grafton, Sheryl (Rick) Bakos of Elyria, Sandra (Tom) Ward of Westerville and Candace (Don) DeFluiter of Atwater; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews and friends Vera Charlton of LaGrange and Frank Colette of Martins Ferry.She was preceded in death by her parents John and Annie Childers and brothers Gordon Childers in 2007 and Earl Childers in 2014.Friends will be received Friday, October 31, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of a 1:00 P.M. service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria with Reverend Jonathan McCleery officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans Dept. of Ohio, 35 East Chestnut St., Columbus, OH 43215.
