Marge Ashcraft Obituary
Marge F. Ashcraft, 81, of Elyria, died December 14, 2021, one day shy of her 82nd birthday, after a lengthy illness. She was born December 15, 1939 in Anderson, IN, was a 1957 graduate of Anderson High School and attended Lorain County Community College. She had been employed as a cashier at Kroger Grocery in Anderson and from 1963-1966, she was a telephone operator for General Telephone Company in Lancaster, CA. Marge moved to Elyria in 1966 and was a bus driver for the Midview and Westlake Schools. She then worked in custodial maintenance at Westlake High School, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, Elyria, River Chapter #517 O.E.S. Rocky River, Elyria Amvets Post 32 Auxiliary and Chapter #319 SERS. She had been a volunteer at the Lorain County Animal Protective League and a fundraiser for Ohio Association of Public School Employees and the Lorain County Hockey Association. She was also a member of SECA and participated and won a race. Other interests included crocheting, knitting and crafts. Marge is survived by sons, Robert F. (Gabriele) Arnold of Anderson, IN, Timothy L. Arnold of Elyria and Christopher A. (Kiki) Arnold of Berlin Heights; daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Petty of Marblehead, OH and Jennifer (J.J.) Jackson of Elyria; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Annabell Ashcraft; sister, Carolyn Morgan; and a brother, Joseph L. Ashcraft. Friends will be received Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 3:00 pm until the time of a 5:00 pm memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Pastor Brian Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.
