Maria Csata Obituary
Maria Csata (nee Kovacs), 86, of Elyria, died February 13, 2023 at Huntington Woods, Westlake. She was born September 25, 1936 in Tatabanya, Hungary and attended school in Szarliget, Hungary moving to the United States in 1957 during the Hungarian Revolution. Her family lived in New Brunswick, NJ before settling in Elyria in 1959. Maria had been employed as a cook at various restaurants in the Elyria area. She had attended Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain UCC and enjoyed listening to Hungarian music. Maria is survived by a son, Ignatz “Iggy” (Penny) Csata; daughter, Maria Barr, both of Elyria; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rozalia Dora of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ignatz in 2006; brother, Janos Kovacs; and sisters, Ilona Bogdan and Gizela Kovacs. Family and friends will be received Friday, February 17, 2023 from 11:30 am until the time of 12:30 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Peter Toth officiating.
