Marilyn W. Robertson, 81, of Avon Lake died June 5, 2023. She was born August 7, 1941 in Lakewood and raised in Brecksville, Ohio. She graduated from Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing, Cleveland, as a registered nurse and Cleveland State as a nurse practitioner. She was employed at Mt. Sinai Hospital and also by Visiting Nurses Association of Cleveland from where she retired. Following a head injury in 1980, she started her second career assisting persons with disabilities and seniors. Marilyn was appointed on the Ohio Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities by Governor Voinivich. She formed the support group Walking with Wheelies and served for over 20 years and received many awards of recognition for her services. She was a member of Lively Seniors of Avon Lake and Smugglers Cove HOA. Marilyn's lifetime interests included animals, Cleveland sports team, tennis and music. Marilyn is survived by a step-daughter, Kelly Spicer of Warrenville Heights, OH; grandchildren, Jessica Sebo of Elyria and Zachary York of Oberlin; first husband C. Gary Wood and many cousins in USA, Canada and Australia. She was preceded in death by her partner and companion, Elden Pitts in 2021; second husband Dave Robertson; parents, George and Gezella “Grace” (nee Kaliska) Peters and sisters, Sandy and Eleanor. Private burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
