Marjorie Keith Obituary
Marjorie M. Keith (nee: Porter), 92 a longtime Grafton resident passed away November 4, 2016. She was born October 21, 1924 in Cleveland where she grew up on 135th Street and was a 1942 graduate of John Adams High School. Margie graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1946 with a B.A. in liberal arts, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Sorority. In 1964 she received a B.S. in education from Kent State University and in 1978 a Master of Arts in education from Baldwin Wallace University. From 1963 until retiring in 1991 she taught first and second grades at McKinley Elementary School in Elyria. Margie and her husband Walter met while roller skating and were married September 25, 1948 in Emanuel Lutheran Church where she has remained a member, taught Sunday School and was treasurer of The Golden Buckeyes. She enjoyed her teaching career, gardening, reading, sewing and spending time with family. Margie is survived by a son, Carl W. (Renee) Keith of Grafton; daughter, Colleen S. (James) Everhart of Elyria; grandchildren, Kristen (Craig) Peterson, Karla (Scott) Wood, Keith Everhart and Brianna Keith and great grandchildren, Camden and Claire Peterson and Skylar Wood.She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty six years, Walter G. in 2014; parents, Robert and Jessie Porter and a brother, Robert Porter.Friends will be received Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Friends will also be received Thursday November 10, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the time of an 11:00 service at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 360 Princeton Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Paul E. Jaster will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church. For online condolences visit www.dickenfuneralhome.com.
