Marvin R. Anderson, 81, of Elyria, died January 31, 2016 at his home.He was born August 16. 1934 in Cleveland and was a 1952 graduate of Avon Lake High School. He served with the U.S. Navy and also with the U.S. Air Force where he played basketball and was stationed in Spain. Marvin was employed for 28 years by Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1996 from the Avon Lake Plant as floor supervisor of the Econoline Van line. During his association with Ford Motor Company, he traveled to Japan to facilitate the V X 54 Project of bringing the Nissan Quest to the Avon Lake Plant. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, traveling including to Las Vegas. He was a sports enthusiast, and a fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes.Marvin is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jean L. (nee Nelson); daughter Laurie (Blaize) Tubritt Anderson; son Timothy Anderson; grandchildren Tyler, Ashley, Stephen, Lily, Taylor, Colton, Jacob and Jordan; sister Kay Novotny of Avon Lake; sister-in-law Gail Segraves of Elyria and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his son Christian B. Anderson in 2011 and parents Lee and Marie Anderson.Friends will be received Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Bradley J. Donahue officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund in Marvins name.
