Michael A. Gedwill, 78, of North Ridgeville, died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his home.He was born January 8, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, where he was a 1951 graduate of St. Rita High School. He then attended the University of Illinois, where he earned a bachelor and master degrees in Metallurgical Engineering. He was employed at Batelle Institute in Columbus before coming to NASA in 1963 and retired from NASA after 30 years service.Mike enjoyed fishing, swimming, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.Mike is survived by his daughter Anne (Matthew) Lucas of Bay Village and son David Gedwill of Amherst; granddaughters Paige and Holly Lucas; sister Isabell Gedwill of Chicago and former wife Mary Lee Gedwill of North Ridgeville.He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Isabell (nee Kleiba) Gedwill.Friends will be received Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at Saint Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Reverend Fr. Robert J. Franco will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Casmir Lithuanian Catholic Cemetery, Chicago.Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Peter Church Memorial Fund.Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria was in charge of arrangements.
