Michael J. Shepherd, 58, of Elyria, died unexpectedly April 20, 2016.He was born May 19, 1957 in Elyria and was a 1976 graduate of Elyria West High School. For 35 years, Michael was employed as a carpet installer throughout Lorain County. His interests included motorcycles, NASCAR and he was a Cleveland Sports fan.Michael is survived by his sons Ryan M. (Ashley) Shepherd of Vermilion and Austin M. Shepherd, of Elyria; daughter Jennifer L. (Kevin) Shepherd of Vermilion; step-son and former wife, Corey Akers and Tina Shepherd of Elyria; mother and step-father Lula and Joseph Capp of Elyria; step-mother Kathy Brown Shepherd of Elyria; sisters Elaine (Jim) Shepherd Brown of Oberlin, Laurie (Greg) Marciniak and Teri (Tony) Bozick Thomas, both of Elyria,; brothers Mark (Jackie) Shepherd, Scott and Tom (Tara) Bohac and Freddie (Abby) Shepherd, all of Elyria; step-sisters Jane Shirley of Oberlin and Jodi Cunningham of Illinois; step-brother Joey Capp of Texas; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father Fred Shepherd in 2014 and grandparents Ellsworth and Marion Shepherd.Friends will be received Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a 6:00 p.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.
