Michael F. Mike McFrederick, 51, of Elyria, died at home, September 6, 2015, surrounded by his family, following a long illness.He was born October 23, 1963 in Lodi, OH. He was a 1982 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School and a 1985 graduate of OSU Agricultural Technical Institute. For twelve years, Mike was self employed, operating Allphase Landscaping and for fifteen years, worked as a project manager in the design/installation of large scale landscaping projects for Patti Group Inc., Novelty, OH.Mike was an avid outdoorsman, including duck and goose hunting, deer hunting, fishing and golfing. His biggest joys in life came from spending time with his family and watching his boys play baseball. He also enjoyed walking with his family through the paths of the many Metroparks.Mike is survived by his wife of 22 years, Renee L. (nee Reeser); sons Mathew and Benjamin McFrederick, his parents Roger and Janice (nee Sooy) McFrederick, all of Elyria; brother Greg McFrederick of Newport, RI; aunt Lois Cano of Southport, NC and cousins Brad Sooy of Homerville and Ryan Sooy of Hudson, OH. He leaves behind many friends and co workers who loved and respected him.He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Leona Sooy and Lee and Lucille McFrederick; Uncle Homer and Aunt Rita Sooy and Uncle Dick Cano.Friends will be received Friday, September 11. 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., Elyria with Reverend Roger G. Talbott officiating. Private burial will be in Spencer Cemetery, Spencer, OH In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OSU James Cancer Institute, (brain tumor research) 460 W 10th Ave, Columbus, OH 43210.
