Michael Petruna, 71, of LaGrange Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 28, 2012, after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Petruna was born July 15, 1941 in Windber, Somerset County, PA. After graduating in 1959 from Adams-Summerhill High School in St. Michael, PA, he joined the U.S. Navy.Michael worked in the payroll department at Fruehauf Corporation for ten years and as a cost accountant at Luxaire Company for five years and then held various accounting positions including Cost Accountant, International Financial Accountant and Financial Accountant at Ridge Tool Company in Elyria for 33 years, retiring in 2007. Mr. Petruna was a member of First Baptist Church of LaGrange where he served as Treasurer, Missionary Treasurer and Financial Secretary. He enjoyed team teaching the 2s and 3s Sunday School Class for more than seven years with his wife. He also served as an Awana and Word of Life leader in the church.Michaels favorite vacations were spending time with his grandchildren in Colorado and Disney World. He enjoyed traveling on steam trains, videography, and spending time with his sons when they were teenagers at Word of Life in Schroon Lake, New York.Michael is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca Petruna (nee: Giesel); sons, Michael (Faith) Petruna, Matthew (Stacey) Petruna; grandchildren, Matthew and Philip Petruna and Jordyn Beasy; great granddaughter, Brynlie Beasy; sisters, Gloria (Ron) Yanik, Joan Flood and Linda (Rodney) Penningtion and a brother, Ted (Donna) Petruna.He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Alice PetrunaFriends will be received Tuesday January 1, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church of LaGrange, corner of Liberty and Church Street in LaGrange. A service will be held Wednesday January 2, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the church with burial in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria is handling arrangements.
