Michele "Mickey" Recupero Cole, 74, of Lorain, died, April 8, 2022 at her home. She was born September 3, 1947 in Elyria where she was a 1965 graduate of Elyria High School. Michele was the founder of Mickey’s Cadets, a drum and baton corp. She won 1st runner-up in the Miss Ohio Pageant in 1968, where she twirled a fire baton during the talent portion. For over twenty years she was a teaching assistant in Cumberland County and Wake County Schools in North Carolina, mostly in second grade and to children with special needs. Michele was very creative, enjoyed crafts, musicals and her Shih-Tzu fur babies, Lucy and Leo. Michele is survived by children, Christopher Nalepa of Lorain, Heather (Cody) Congo Gilliam of Madison, AL and Larry (Amy) Harvey of Raeford, NC; grandchildren, Slade, Evelynn, Zane, Novi, Laurie Beth and Lillie Grace and a brother, James (Christine) Recupero of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jeffrey Cole and parents, Mary Alice and James Recupero. All services are private.
