Nancy L. Holbrook's Obituary
Nancy L. Holbrook (nee Gray), 85, of North Ridgeville, died Wednesday, July 1, 2026. She was born December 14, 1940 in Cohasset, Massachusetts. Her family moved to Barnard, Vermont when her father retired and she graduated high school in 1959. Nancy served with the US Army and was stationed at the Presido in San Franciso where she met her husband, Talmadge Holbrook. They were married May 25, 1960 and shared 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2024. Early in her career, Nancy worked at MarshAllen Industries alongside her husband before transitioning to her role as a dedicated homemaker and mother. She was a talented artisan, known for her skill in knitting complex sweaters, blankets, and winter wear, as well as her expertise in sewing and crafts. She also enjoyed canning vegetables harvested from her husband’s garden. Nancy was incredibly social and truly never met a stranger. She was fiercely devoted to her family, never missing her children’s sports or school activities. Her compassion extended to her community, as she and her husband fostered 17 children over the years before adopting their son, Lawrence.
Nancy is survived by daughters, Vicki (David) Heuser, Dianna (Jeff) Chapman and Staci (Christopher) Gerome; grandchildren, Chad (Rachael) Heuser, Brittney (Ben) Price, Brent Heuser, Nicole Hale, Brett Shirring, Jacob Schindler, Emily (Chase) Ritchie, Megan Olmstead, Michael Gerome, Jackson Holbrook, and Skylar Holbrook; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Heuser, Kennedy Heuser, Taylor Price, Olivia Price, Harper Price, Parker Hale, Tucker Hale, Archer Ritchie, and Lillian Ritchie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Talmadge; son, Lawrence Holbrook; granddaughter, Kiara Shirring and parents, Schuyler and Alice Gray.
Nancy will be laid to rest Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman where she will join her husband. A private service will be held with family in attendance.
