Nathaniel E. KirkendallNathaniel E. Kirkendall, 19, of Elyria, succumbed to his battle with muscular dystrophy at his home February 23, 2018. He was born December 26, 1998 in Westlake and has been a resident of Elyria most of his life. Nathan attended First Baptist Church of Elyria. He was an avid player of video games, especially Halo. Other interests included cars, science and learning about space. Nathan is survived by his mother and step-father, Joy and Larry Degley with whom he made his home; father, Timothy Kirkendall; sister, Nicole Kirkendall; grandmother, Edna “Sally” Smith all of Elyria; aunt, Jenny Loy of Fairview Park; great aunt, Patty Matheson of Crossville, TN; best friend, Andrew Warkentine of LaGrange and additional aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron Kirkendall; grandfather, Russell Smith and grandparents, Lonnie and Roberta Kirkendall.Friends will be received Tuesday February 27, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Josh Butler, youth pastor at First Baptist Church of Elyria will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Christian School, 11400 LaGrange Road, Elyria 44035.
