Nicholas Barbaresso Obituary
Nicholas Barbaresso. 92, of Avon, formerly of Elyria, died February 27, 2016 at Ames Family Hospice House, Westlake, Ohio.He was born October 18, 1923 in Elyria and was a 1941 graduate of Elyria High School and also a graduate of Western Reserve University, Cleveland. He served with the United States Army as a demolition expert in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. Before his discharge from the service in 1946, he graduated first in his class as an electrician from New York Trade School in Manhattan. For thirty years, he was employed as a certified public accountant by the Internal Revenue Service in Cleveland, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain, serving as church president and treasurer. He was a member of AHEPA and served on the building committee during the development and building of the church.Nick loved his family, church and country and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Esther Honey (nee Demetral) and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents James and Constance Barbaresso; sisters Cula Kamoutsis, Georgia Antonopoulos, Mary Camarinos and Angeline Chakalos and brothers Anthony and Peter Barbaresso. Friends will be received Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 4p.m. until the time of a 6:30 p.m. Trisayion service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, A funeral service will be Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd. Lorain, with Reverend Michael Gulgas officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria where Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will present military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church.
