Norma J. Peabody (nee: Woodcock), 87, of Elyria, died Monday March 5, 2012 at her home. She was born July 27, 1924 in Elyria, was a 1942 graduate of Elyria High School and had been active in coordinating class reunions. She was employed in the office of the radiology department at EMH Regional Medical Center retiring in 1989. Norma was a member of Lake Avenue United Church of Christ, Elyria Womens Senior Fellowship and had been Past Worthy Advisor Of Elyria Rainbow Girls Assembly # 13 and a member of The Elyria Grand Cross Of Color. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed the company of the Golden Girls, hospital retirees and other groups of friends.Norma is survived by a daughter, Sharon L. (Tim) Gebhardt and a son, Richard L. (Laurie) Peabody both of Elyria; grandchildren, Karie (Ryan) Youngeberg, Todd Gebhardt and Brian and Adam Peabody; great grandchildren, Travis Mansfield, Landon Peabody and Abby Youngeberg.She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence L. Larry Peabody in 2002; parents, George and Edna (nee: Bemis) Woodcock and a sister, Ruby Kopis.Norma was a beautiful person inside and outside who was always thinking of others and enjoyed life to the fullest.Friends will be received Thursday March 8, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Dicken Funeral Home 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Friday March 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Reverend Robert Gross officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria 44035.
