O. Stalla Obituary
O. James “Jim” Stalla, 78, of Elyria, died July 8, 2017 in his home. He was born February 4, 1939 in Elyria and attended Elyria High School. From 1956 to 1959 Jim served in the United States Marine Corps. His working career was as an electrician at Republic Steel from where he retired. He was an avid bowler and stamp collector. Jim was devoted to being “Papa” and is survived by his wife, Selma of forty seven years; daughters, Debbie (Dave) Botos of Grafton, Jean Vincent of Elyria, Barbara (Dan) Spencer of Grafton, Diane (Jerry) Bodkin of Vermilion and Kathy Penndorf of Elyria; son, Scott (Tracey) Sinkinson of Wellington; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a grandson, A. J. Vincent in 2010; son, Thomas S. Sinkinson in 2014; parents, Oscar and Grace Stalla and a sister, Helen Pallardy.Friends will be received Wednesday July 12, 2017 from 11:30 AM until the time of a 1:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Charles T. Diedrick will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery where Elyria VFW # 1079 will present military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research (Michael jfox.org, tribute page for Jim Stalla,) or Mercy Cancer Center, 41201 Schadden Road, Elyria 44035.
