Patricia Limbird Obituary
Patricia Dudley Limbird, 87, of Oberlin, died November 16, 2021. Patricia made her home in Farmington Hills, Michigan for 63 years. After a stroke in 2019, she moved to Oberlin to live with her sister, Jo Huber. She was born and raised in Milan, Ohio. She graduated high school from the Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, Ohio. She obtained a B.S in Education from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where she was President of her sorority, Kappa Delta. She later earned three M.A, degrees; one from the Columbia University Teachers College in New York City in Education; another from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in Library Science and a third from Eastern Michigan University in Education Administration. She began teaching in Milan and Huron, Ohio, but later moved to Michigan where she taught in the Farmington Hills area for about 35 years. After she retired from teaching, she became Chairman of the Curriculum Committee in the Adult Learning Institute (ALI) at Oakland County Community College, Farmington Hills. She was also active in her church, Trinity in the Woods Episcopal Church, Farmington Hills, where she served on the Vestry, the Building and Grounds Committee, and the Caring Committee. She was an avid birder and even traveled to Iceland to bird watch. She loved traveling and learning about the people and customs of the countries. She traveled to Italy, Sicily, France, United Kingdom, Spain, New Zealand, the Mayan Trail through El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Belize in Central America, Costa Rica, Germany and Austria, Poland, and Czech Republic. She also liked to visit the National Parks in the United States. Besides traveling, she also enjoyed skiing. Her favorite place to ski was Park City, Utah. She also loved to bike and golf. Her favorite wintertime places were Sanibel Island, Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina. She is survived by her sister, Jo Huber, Oberlin, OH; nieces, Molly Hermes (Donald), El Cerrito, CA, Diane Limbird Hamburger (Ron) Chicago, IL, Rebecca Limbird Rohre, Napoleon, OH and Suzanne Limbird, Atlanta, GA; nephews, Thomas Limbird (Lee), Nashville, TN, Robert Limbird (Lou Ann), Napoleon, OH, Richard Limbird (Gloria), Saunderstown, RI and Jon Limbird (Ann), Pisgah Forest, NC; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Limbird; brothers, James Limbird of Toledo and Richard Limbird of Atlanta; nephews, Greg Limbird, Atlanta, and John Huber; and a niece, Greta Huber, of Oberlin. There will be a memorial service will be held at Trinity in the Woods Episcopal Church, 26880 La Muera Street, Farmington Hills. MI sometime in the spring-summer of 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Audubon Society, or your favorite charity.
