Patricia W. Pat Parker (nee Whelpley), 78, of Medina and formerly of Elyria, died December 17, 2011 at The Cleveland Clinic.She was born July 12, 1933 in Cranford, New Jersey and was a 1951 graduate of Huntington High School, Huntington, West Virginia. She received an Associate Degree in Business and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia and has been a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Gamma Beta Chapter at Marshall University for over 50 years. She also graduated from Traphagen School of Design in New York City and received a Masters Degree in Education from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati then pursued post graduate studies at Ashland University. She moved to Elyria in 1965 and was employed as an art teacher in the Elyria City Schools, retiring in 1990. Pat held dual membership at United Church of Christ Congregational, Medina and was a member at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria since 1974, where she was involved in the needle point project, the prayer shawl knitting group and the Mayflower Circle. At EMH Regional Medical Center she had accumulated over 10,900 volunteer hours knitting baby hats and working in the gift shop. She was also a Retired Senior Volunteer Program attendant at Lorain County Community College Stocker Center Art Gallery. Pat was a member, vice regent and past regent of the Nathan Perry Chapter of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of The Ohio Genealogical Society. She had traced her genealogy back to the early 15th Century England and discovered several family Revolutionary War Patriots. Pat was the 14th generation of the Bowlby Family and served on the board of directors of the Bowlby Family Organization. She was a member of Fourthurs of the Elyria YWCA and the Fleece and Flax Spinning Guild. Other interests include; drawing, painting, spinning, weaving and knitting. Survivors include her daughter the Reverend Susan L. Parker Lehosky, son-in-law the Reverend Frank R. Lehosky of Woodsfield, Ohio; nephew Richard A. Whelpley of High Point, North Carolina and numerous Bowlby cousins in the United States, Canada and England.She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Frances Bowlby Whelpley nee: Whalen and James R. Whelpley and a brother James R. Whelpley, Jr.A memorial service will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. January 21, 2012 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second St., Elyria, with Reverend Christina Kukuk and Reverend Neal R. Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
