Paul A. Smith, 55, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly April 22, 2022, at his home. He was born December 29, 1966 in Elyria to Henry A. and Wilma Jean (nee Markel) Smith. Paul was a 1984 graduate of Elyria High School and attended Lorain County Community College and Ohio University. For over 25 years, he worked as a CNC Machinist for several local manufacturers. Paul was an outdoor enthusiast, who enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, and bird-watching. He was also a fan of motorcar racing and Cleveland sports teams. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by siblings, Douglas (Susan) Smith, Kenneth (Judy) Smith, Peggy Kobelka, Robert (Patricia) Smith, Laura (Michael) Loan, Mark (Cathleen) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Friends will be received Saturday May 7, 2022 from 1:00 pm until the time of a 3:00 pm memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio. Reverend Kathryn Ketchum and Reverend Arik Borstad will officiate. Private burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd.
