Paulette McCullough's Obituary
Paulette McCullough Obituary
Paulette McCullough (nee Lafferty), 75, of Elyria, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, September 6, 2021 after a short battle with COVID-19 and pneumonia at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Paulette was born October 20, 1945 in Caruthersville, MO where she graduated with the class of 1963 from Caruthersville High School. She worked at The Doctor’s Clinic while living in Caruthersville, then moved to Michigan for her husband, James’ job and to be near family; eventually settling in Elyria in 1976 to raise her children. Paulette and her husband, James, were very involved in AWANA and church activities as members of Abbe Road Baptist Church. For over 30 years, Paulette worked for the City of Elyria-Water Pumping Department, initially starting in 1978, as the secretary and payroll clerk. After becoming EPA certified by the State of Ohio, she became the Lab Technician, retiring December 30, 2010. Paulette enjoyed traveling, caring for her lawn, shopping at the mall (especially Macy’s) and antique stores. She frequently attended live music, dancing and fish dinners at the Moose Lodge. After meeting Elvis, at a car hop in Memphis, he quickly became her favorite music entertainer. She often teased that her car Sirius radio only played the Elvis channel. She loved spending time with her family, especially having shopping lunch dates with her granddaughters. She cherished hosting all of the holiday dinners; however, being Nana and Grandma Culla was the highlight of her life. She will be remembered as a loyal, caring person to all her family and friends; many of whom were lifelong. Paulette is survived by husband, Dennis German and preceded in death by her first husband, James L. McCullough, with whom she spent 34 years before his passing in November 2000; her children Lynette McCullough-Fowler (Allen) of Penfield, OH and James L. McCullough II (Julie) of Paulding, OH; grandchildren Sierra Nicole Rossworm (John), Brandie Lee Fowler, Skyler Marie McCullough, (AJ) Austin James Fowler, Sydney Layne McCullough, Luke David McCullough and a great grandchild Trace Alan Rossworm with one more on the way; brother Larry Mott (Sherri) of Ludington, MI; sisters Natasha Ward (Allen-deceased) of Loudon, TN and Donna Terrell (William) of Palm Springs, FL; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Mott; grandparents Grover and Dixie Lafferty and brothers Carl Mott, Jr. and Eric Mott. A public visitation will be Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
