Peggy J. Yorks' Obituary
Peggy J. Yorks (nee Perkins), 89, of Elyria, OH passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 28, 2026 with family by her side. She was born to parents Howard and Betty (nee Gibbens) Perkins March 26, 1937 in Wooster, OH. She was the eldest daughter of 9 children, a role she fondly cherished and carried with pride and sense of responsibility throughout her life. The family moved to Elyria during the war effort where Peggy graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1955. She met her husband and first love Dave and they enjoyed 45 years together, sharing a life centered around love, family and hard work. Together they raised 3 sons and were blessed with 10 beloved grandchildren. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Peg was the consummate homemaker, caregiver and bookkeeper for Peg’s Cake Shop and Dave’s Welding businesses. Peg was extremely artistic, her creativity exemplified in her baking skills and beautifully decorated wedding cakes. She was a seamstress, sewing instructor and quilter. She thoroughly enjoyed any gathering of family and friends, hosting holidays, collecting Precious Moments figurines, traveling, family vacations, cookouts, sporting events, solving puzzles and just having a good time. It was Dave’s and Peg’s pleasure to host the annual family and friends clam bake and she was known as the reunion coordinator for the Perkins family. Peg enjoyed the Florida sunshine while wintering at Brook to Bay in Englewood, FL. and was a member of The Gathering Church where she relished many friendships. Peg served as Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Stone City #325, along with other positions. Throughout life’s tribulations she always felt she had a good life, and we were blessed to know her spirit. Peggy was a loving spouse, wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandma and a beautiful friend. She will be remembered for her strength, integrity and caring nature whose love and legacy will live on in all the lives she touched.
