Philip H. CoePhilip H. Coe, 93, a lifelong resident of Elyria passed away October 2, 2017 surrounded by family. He lived a very compassionate, caring life.Phil was born February 3, 1924 in New Orleans, raised in Elyria and was a 1942 graduate of Elyria High School. He proudly served in WWII as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corp. As a pilot during WWII, he captained a B-24 bomber with a crew of nine while stationed in the Pacific. His crew appreciated his leadership and ability to keep them safe during some very tough days. Phil and his crew maintained a loyal bond and friendship throughout the years.In 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne and together raised their family of two daughters and three sons in Elyria. With a successful career in commercial real estate, Phil enjoyed his life in Elyria with Jeanne, boating with his family and spending summers at their beloved cottage in Linwood Park.Phil was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He served his community through his work with the Jaycees, Rotary Club, VFW, Kiwanis and The American Legion. He enjoyed reading, music and visiting with friends. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, love and devotion. His giving to others in need was one of his greatest attributes.Phil is survived by daughters, Patricia (Tom) Bolinski, Laura (Tim) Wright; sons, Greg and Kevin (Michelle); nine grandchildren, Brandon, Evan, Andrea, Erica, Rachel, Keven, Alex, Dana and Sarah and eight great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeanne of fifty eight years in 2004 and his son Robert in 2000 as well as his parents and brother David.The family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio 44035. His memorial Mass will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick will be the celebrant.
